Background

Shobhit Kumar belongs to a family of social workers who for the last several generations have devoted their lives for the development of the weaker sections of society with (sections) the promotion of educational activities in the region. Several educational institutions were founded by his ancestors in the Saharanpur district West Uttar Pradesh which legacy he carries on.

Shobhit Kumar set up “NICE Society (now Shobhit University)” as its promoter-member in 1989. During the years, he became one of the key team members for the development of different educational institutions in Western Uttar Pradesh under the banner of NICE Society. One of the Engineering and Technical Institutions of NICE Society has been developed at village Gangoh, District Saharanpur, at his initiatives with a view to develop rural areas of the state. At present, he is Chairman of Shobhit University. An indefatigable member of a team of professionals working whole heartedly for the development of technical education in the state, he is always busy in promoting educational institutions, programmes or activities.

Presently, he is working on a project of developing a 300-bed charitable hospital at Gangoh for providing medical facilities to the people in and around area where there are no medical facilities in the radius of 40 kms. from Gangoh. As the promoter-member of the project, he is responsible for the overall infrastructural development of the upcoming hospital. The first phase of the project is completed and some departments of the hospital have started functioning. He has plans to develop quality human resource in the domain of medical sciences. He is also working on step-wise development of Para-medical, Dental and Medical Institutions at Gangoh. Shobhit Kumar confers Honoris Causa Doctorate on 16.01.2009 as Chancellor, Shobhit University, Meerut, upon Shri Kuppahalli Sitaramayya Sudarshanji in recognition of his lifetime contribution to nation-building and social service.
